Q:
Who can apply for a scholarship?
A:

Scholarships are for NANA shareholders and can be used for vocational training, certificates or undergraduate degrees.

Q:
The field of study must relate to resource development… what does that mean?
A:

Great question! Resource development studies include many disciplines such as: Cooking, Drilling, Engineering, Environmental, First Aid, Geology, Mechanics, Operators, Trades and many more!

Q:
When is the application due date for College or University students?
A:

Applications are due before August 1st for the fall semester, and before January 10th for the spring semester.

Q:
When is the application due date for vocational training?
A:

Applications are reviewed four times a year: February 1st, July 1st, September 1st and December 1st. Completed applications must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the start of training.

How much funding will I receive?
A:
Award amounts range depending on the program and funding need.
Q:
If I’ve received a NovaCopper-NANA Kuuvangmiut Scholarship in the past, am I eligible for another one?
A:

Yes, as long as you have maintained a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and continue to be enrolled in an accredited school. Repeat applicants are eligible to receive funding for up to five calendar years for full-time education, and up to ten calendar years for part-time studies.

What costs can the scholarship be applied to?
A:

Scholarship awards may be used for tuition costs and other mandatory fees, such as lab fees, as long as the school/training institute includes them on their invoice. Scholarships can also be applied to books and course material. Funds are sent directly to your school.

Who reviews the applications?
A:
Applications are reviewed by the Workforce Development Subcommittee which is made up of four members, two from NANA and two from NovaCopper.
