LOCATION: Bornite Camp, Alaska

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Reporting to the Senior Geology Manager, the Project Geologist will aid in managing the efficient execution of the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects resource development and exploration goals.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Train & supervise core logging geologists and technicians
  • Ensure that proper & preemptive safety practices are practiced
  • Coordinating core logging, sampling, core cutting and core storage
  • Resolve geological variances to produce a uniform product
  • Log core, compile data, initiate, test and propose means to advance geologic interpretation
  • Enforce logging & sampling QA/QC procedures
  • Database management - check final logs
  • Assist with drill management – move scheduling, pad building, supplies inventories.
  • Support drill site activities, locating and aligning drills
  • Identify, correct, and report environmental infractions
  • Maintain geology supplies and inventories
  • Prepare daily reports and prepare presentations for the field

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology and Geophysics
  • 4-7 years’ experience in geology, 1 year in a position of applicable responsibility
  • Capable with Microsoft Office products, GIS, geologic modeling software and database management
  • Competent oral, writing, mathematical and scientific skills
  • Focused, self-motivated and well organized.
  • Comfortable traveling in and work around helicopters and small fixed wing aircraft.
  • Physically able repetitively lift and carry 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to work and hike in alpine arctic terrain, adverse weather, in a remote camp setting on a rotational basis
